East Lansing's top school official says he thinks voters will approve new funding for technological improvements throughout the district.
The vote will come one year after voters rejected a $53 million bond. Superintendent Dave Chapin points to the results of a recent community survey.
"The highest priority from those that would like to see us move forward was technology," he says. "So we took that information and developed a technology bond proposal that will be on the ballot in February, but it's a $5 million project--considerably different from a $53 million project."
Chapin's comments come the day after a hotly debated decision to reconfigure district schools. Among other changes, the 5-2 vote will eliminate one elementary school and expand a middle school to include 6th graders.
