A bill to eliminate Michigan’s film incentives is advancing in the state House.
The Michigan Public Radio Network’s Jake Neher has more.
A state House panel approved the legislation – which would end the 50 million dollar film credits on October 1st.
Patrick Kelly is a carpenter and stage hand from Pontiac. He says just the fact that politicians in Lansing are debating the bill hurts the program’s chances of working.
“The instability really does have an impact right now – whether it passes or not,” he says.
Critics of the film incentives say they don’t create enough jobs or economic activity to justify their cost. The legislation now heads to the state House floor.
