The slate of candidates running for office in Lansing is now complete following Tuesday’s filing deadline.

In this year’s mayoral race, incumbent Mayor Andy Schor is seeking a second term. His challengers include city council members Patricia Spitzley and Kathie Dunbar, along with Larry James Hutchinson Jr., Melissa Huber, and Farhan Sheikh-Omar.

Earlier this year, former three-term Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero had announced a new campaign for the city’s top job, but withdrew after several women brought forward allegations of sexual harassment.

Chris Swope is running unopposed for city clerk.

In the Lansing City Council race, eight candidates are seeking the two at-large council seats up for election. Three people are running in Ward 2. In the 4th Ward, two candidates will automatically move on to the general election.

This year's primary election will take place August 3rd, with the general election following on November 2nd.
