Auto industry eyes shifting transportation priorities

Michigan’s surging auto industry is front and center this week at the Detroit Auto Show, but young Americans may be a shrinking part of the hoopla.Statistics from the online car shopping site Edmunds.com show Americans aged 18-34 account for just over 10% of new car sales. It's a segment the industry is concerned may be shifting to a more car-free lifestyle.

A host of factors appear to be involved. Bridge Magazine reporter Rick Haglund writes about the phenomena in the latest edition.  Haglund says the millenial generation is having trouble entering the labor market.
