The selection of newspaper columnist George Will to speak to MSU graduates this weekend is drawing the ire of students angered by his position on campus sexual assaults. In June, George Will wrote that “the supposed campus epidemic of rape is being pushed by progressives, making victimhood a coveted status that confers privileges.”

WKAR will air an interview with Will on several subjects, including campus rape, on Friday’s Current State program. In that interview, Will says the recent retraction of the Rolling Stone magazine story on an alleged gang rape at the University of Virginia “does somewhat” confirm what he said.

Will tells WKAR that “the writer of that Rolling Stone piece says, proudly, she went shopping for a university in which she could make the point that there is this pandemic of sexual assault on campus”.

Along with the George Will interview, Current State will talk on Friday with students who will protest Will’s appearance on campus. They say the university’s choice is insensitive to victims of sexual assault.
