Michigan State University will hire 100 new faculty members to embark on a long-term effort to expand its scientific research profile. We talk with MSU’s Dr. Steven Hsu, Vice-President for Research and Graduate Studies, and Dr. Andrew Christlieb, chair of the new Department of Computational Mathematics, Science and Engineering.
Michigan State University is internationally known for its scientific research capacity. With its historic roots in agriculture, MSU is considered a world leader in such fields as plant science and veterinary medicine. Now, the university is deepening its commitment to research with a new long-term project. Under its Global Impact Initiative, Michigan State University will recruit 100 new faculty members to step up its work in areas such as engineering and STEM education. It will also greatly expand research in genomics and precision medicine.
