The East Lansing Board of Education is poised to promote Acting Superintendent Dori Leyko to the job permanently.

Dori Leyko is a former principal at Marble Elementary School. She’s serving as Curriculum Director for the East Lansing School District, and became Acting Superintendent when Robyne Thompson resigned in January.

Nell Kuhnmuench is president of the school board in East Lansing. She says every member of the board praised Leyko’s performance as Acting Superintendent at Monday’s meeting. “She has received broad support from people internally,” Kuhnmuench says, “her administrative team, teachers and other staff; parents and the broader community, too.”

Contract negotiations will likely be followed by board approval at one of the board meetings in June. The contract would take effect July 1st.

Leyko has been allowed to post the Curriculum Director’s job in the meantime.
