Lansing Community College said classes will resume as normal tomorrow. One suspect was arrested after a threat that evacuated and closed LCC's downtown, west and east campuses.
William French, Police Director at Lansing Community College released the following statement:
Today at 1:50 p.m. LCC received a call from Dewitt Police Department regarding what was a potential threat to LCC. Over the next several minutes the LCC police department in collaboration with our local law enforcement partners In Eaton County and the Lansing Police Department further assessed the validity of the threat to be credible. Based on the threat timeline we determined for the safety of our students and employees we would evacuate three locations. At 2:16 p.m. we issued alerts by email and text, and issued an alert over our public address system to evacuate the Downtown, East and West campus locations. Due to the quick and thorough work of our LCC police and law enforcement partners a suspect was apprehended by 3:01 p.m. and the campus locations have been deemed safe. Normal operations will resume tomorrow. We would like to thank the Eaton County and Lansing Police Departments, as well as the person who called in the tip. Spokesperson Marilyn Twine issued the following statement to WKAR:
The threat to LCC has been eliminated, and the campus is safe. A suspect has been apprehended and is in police custody. The Downtown, East and West campus locations remains closed through this evening. All classes and activities are cancelled. Normal operations will resume on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017.
