Michigan’s 69th House district covers parts of the cities of Lansing and East Lansing, as well as Meridian and Williamston Townships. It’s one of the state’s most culturally diverse political districts and historically, the 69th has leaned Democratic.

But two Republicans are vying for their party’s nomination in the August 5 primary, and one will earn the right to challenge the incumbent, Democrat Sam Singh.

The two candidates, General Motors employee Frank Lambert, and George Nastas III, a retired program analyst with the Department of Defense join Current State to explain why they’re running this fall.

Lambert and Nastas both have similar fiscal concerns and state that budget control should ultimately be the main priority.
