A sobering new study shows that millions of children, including some covered by Medicaid, lack access to basic dental care. Lack of dental care can lead to complications that lead to expensive emergency room visits and other health problems.

Shelly Gehshan, director of the Pew Children’s Dental Campaign, discusses the problems facing low-income children, how Michigan stacks up next to the rest of the country in regards to addressing the problem, and what can be done to help impoverished children.
