There is more to the struggle of homelessness than just finding a place to live. Haven House in East Lansing goes beyond sheltering homeless families and helps them prepare for permanent housing by promoting self-sufficiency, stability, and financial responsibility. For Neighbors in Action this week, we speak with Haven House Executive Director Angie Mayeaux and Carla, a former Haven House resident.

Every Wednesday on Current State we bring you Neighbors in Action, a look at an area organization working to make Greater Lansing a better place. Haven House provides emergency housing and support services for one-parent and two-parent families with children. The shelter helps families who are homeless prepare for permanent housing by developing and promoting self-sufficiency, stability, and financial responsibility.

Current State speaks with Haven House Executive Director Angie Mayeaux, and Carla, a former resident at Haven House.
