For Neighbors in Action this week, we’ll find out more about Upward Bound at MSU, an educational program that offers academic help to disadvantaged youth. We speak with Director Glenda Hammond and Debra Thornton, a former Upward Bound MSU student.

Graduating high school and preparing for college can be stressful for any student, but for the ones who also face financial and socioeconomic hardships, it can be an overwhelming challenge. For Neighbors in Action this week, we’re looking at an organization that partners with motivated students to meet the challenge together. Upward Bound is a federally funded educational program that provides academic enrichment to disadvantaged high schoolers.

Current State talks with the director of Upward Bound at MSU, Glenda Hammond, and Debra Thornton, a former Upward Bound student.
