When it comes to local rivalries, most people think of Michigan State University vs. University of Michiganbut two local fire departments are also engaging in a friendly rivalry.

Who can cut a car in half the fastest?
It’s called The Great Divide - an annual competition hosted at Home Depot in Okemos.
The store became a stage as the Williamston High School Marching Band pumped up the crowd.
The Meridian Township Fire Department raced against the East Lansing Fire Department.
At one minute and 57 seconds, East Lansing came out victorious for the second year in a row.
But Meridian Township Lt. Al Diaz recovered quickly from the loss.
“Today was challenging," said Diaz. "We had a little bit of an issue with the saw but it’s all just about competing and having fun.”
