EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State tennis player Brett Forman refuses to let his career be defined by injuries.

Injuries in high school limited Forman's college tennis offers, but MSU head coach Gene Orlando still believed in the player from Troy, Mich.

Forman quickly worked his way to No. 1 singles for the Spartans and earned MVP honors his freshman and sophomore year.

Then he seriously injured his lower back, sidelining him for 15 months and taking him out his whole junior season. There was also pain for the Spartans, as the team went 1-11 in Big Ten play last year.

Forman is now working on returning to No. 1, through hard work and time in the MSU therapy room. WKAR Current Sports beat reporter Zachary Barnes reports.
