This weekend, six high school students will take part in a very special graduation ceremony. They are the inaugural senior class of the Edgewood Village Scholars Program. The after-school initiative began in 2008 to help children living in an East Lansing affordable housing complex. We learn more from the program’s director, Jonathan Rosewood.
We’re in the last days of high school graduation season now. Students all over the country are embarking on the next phase of their lives.
Here in East Lansing, six graduating seniors are concluding a unique program they’ve been involved with since elementary school. They're part of the inaugural class of the Edgewood Village Scholars Program. Each of them live in Edgewood Village, an affordable housing complex that caters to many groups, including the elderly and disabled. The program offers intensive, personalized academic support and a variety of service opportunities.
All six of this year’s graduates are heading off to college in the fall.
