Lansing School Board Faces Vacancy, Possibly Two

The Lansing Board of Education will hold an organizational meeting tonight. Filling a vacancy, and possibly two vacancies, will be a major consideration.

Peter Spadafore was elected to the city council in November, but he has not yet formally resigned from his school board seat. Board member Shirley Rodgers passed away last week. Spadafore most recently served as Secretary, and Rodgers had been Treasurer.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Partington Administration Center on West Kalamazoo Street in Lansing. A resolution to rename the administration building in honor of Rodgers will be considered.

On Saturday, there will be a celebration of Shirley Rodgers’ life at 1 p.m. at the Pattengill Auditorium on Marshall Street.
