Michigan State University is home to the nation’s first publicly-funded Osteopathic Medical Schoolin the country. MSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine is also the top-ranked school of its kind in the nation. With MSU’s top ranking and its groundbreaking investment in the medical school in the early 1970s, Current State's Joe Linstroth was curious to know more about what makes an osteopathic doctor different from a more traditional MD. It’s likely we’ll be seeing more across the state in the coming years.

Linstroth spoke with Dr. William Strampel, dean of Michigan State’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. Strampel says osteopaths are trained to touch people.
