Americans are again enrolling in health insurance plans under Obamacare. We learn what’s new, what’s changed and what challenges are ahead for the Affordable Care Act and Healthy Michigan from Marianne Udow-Phillips of Ann Arbor’s Center for Healthcare Research and Transformation.

Around 10-million Americans now have purchased health insurance since the implementation of Obamacare. Millions who previously couldn’t afford coverage or who had pre-existing conditions, now can afford to get medical attention. That 10-million number is going up in December because we’re in the middle of an open enrollment period.

Open enrollment lasts until January 31 to get covered for most of 2016. To secure coverage by January first, enrollees must sign up by next Tuesday.

To explain how coverage, costs and the like are changing, we talk with Marianne Udow-Phillips, director of the Center for Healthcare Research and Transformation (CHRT) at the University of Michigan.
