Tuesday is National HIV Testing Day, and the Ingham County Health Department is offering free, confidential tests.
Twenty-three people were newly-diagnosed with HIV in Ingham County last year, and just over 500 Ingham County residents are living with HIV.
Anyone can be tested from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Forest Community Health Center at 2316 South Cedar Street in Lansing. Results of the finger prick blood test will be available in about a half hour. Along with the test, visitors will attend a personal consult to learn more about risk factors and how to reduce the risk of contracting HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.
The Jackson County Health Department is also offering free HIV tests from 8 to 4 at the Jackson County Health Department at 1715 Lansing Avenue.
The Barry-Eaton District Health Department will offer HIV screening at two locations from 1 to 4 p.m. in Charlotte at 1033 Health Care Drive, and also at 330 West Woodlawn Avenue in Hastings.
