An Ingham County judge has ordered former MSU sports physician Larry Nassar to stand trial on 12 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Nassar had originally faced 17 criminal counts. Prosecutor Angela Pavilaitis asked Judge Donald Allen Jr. to drop five charges related to one alleged victim without explanation.
Pavilaitis played a 2016 video interview between Nassar and MSU police in which he denied trying purposefully to gain sexual gratification while examining his female patients. But the prosecution said his alleged victims were “unambiguous” in their allegations against Nassar. Judge Allen ordered Nassar bound over for trial in Ingham County circuit court. No date was set.
Nassar also faces a preliminary hearing on seven criminal sexual conduct charges June 30 in Eaton County, and a federal child pornography pre-trial hearing in August.
