After retiring as Lansing’s police chief this summer, Mike Yankowski has started a new job at Michigan State University.
Yankowski’s new position is assistant director of institutional ethics and compliance. His first day was October 28th.
Yankowski will help develop a code of ethics and business conduct at MSU. He says “we’re trying to bring policies, procedures, that code of ethics all into one place that students and faculty, and even the public to a certain degree, will have access to.”
Yankowski was with the Lansing police department for 25 years and was chief the last six years he was there.
At one point, he had applied for the police chief’s job in Grand Rapids while considering what he describes as “chapter two” in his career.
Yankowski says his new job will allow him to spend more time with his family.
