The Democratic presidential primary in Michigan today has boiled down to a race between former Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.
The student voting precinct at MSU’s Brody residence hall was busy during the lunch hour today. One student, Jordan Wyrick, was there to vote for Senator Sanders. “Hopefully, we can get our student loans to be paid for, because I am already in debt and I have been here for two years,Wyrick explained, "and he’s also doing something for the minority group, which is very important compared to the other candidates.”
At the East Lansing Hannah Community Center, Dana Graham cast her ballot for Joe Biden. Electability was important to her decision. “My biggest priority is November and beating Donald Trump," Graham stated, "and I think he is the best candidate to do that.”
Expanded early voting eligibility has led to an increase in absentee ballots submitted locally. Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum reports that more than 30,000 early ballots were submitted around the county. Tabulating that larger than normal number could lead to the later than normal reporting of election results tonight.
