Governor Gretchen Whitmer is renewing her call to all Michigan residents to volunteer in some way to help fight the spread of COVID-19.

On Monday Whitmer signed two supplemental budgets that will send another $150 million towards the fight against COVID-19.

To date, Michigan has conducted at least 15,000 tests for the coronavirus, but officials warn the state is still several weeks away from the peak.

Whitmer is urging the public to volunteer at a new website: www.michigan.gov/fightcovid19.

“We expect a great need for additional medical support in the coming days,” Whitmer says.  “So we ask: please sign up now.  State residents can also use the site to find out how they can help in their local communities…how they can connect to give blood, or donate money or needed medical supplies.”

As of Sunday afternoon, Michigan reported nearly 5,500 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 132 fatalities.
