Michigan State University has named Dr. Teresa K. Woodruff of Northwestern University as MSU’s next provost and executive vice president for academic affairs.
Woodruff is an expert on ovarian biology and reproductive science who currently is associate provost and dean of the graduate school at Northwestern.
Along with serving as provost at MSU, she also will be a foundation professor of obstetrics gynecology, reproductive biology and biomedical engineering.
In a brief video message, Woodruff says she is “thrilled, humbled and honored” by becoming provost at MSU. She adds that MSU will be a different place due to the COVID-19 emergency. “We will be changed," Woodruff states, "and how we respond is going to be, in this next year, will be the legacy for our collective future.”
Teresa Sullivan has been MSU’s interim provost since last September.
Woodruff plans to start at MSU on August 1st. Her appointment must be approved by the board of trustees at their next meeting.
