Because of the Flint water crisis, last night’s [Jan. 19] State of the State address will be the most scrutinized of Gov. Rick Snyder’s tenure. We hear responses from House Democratic leader Tim Greimel and Republican Rep. Gary Glenn, along with Detroit News capitol reporter Chad Livengood.
The gravity of the Flint water crisis made Michigan's 2016 State of the State address from Governor Rick Snyder his most closely watched ever. In it, the Governor apologized again for the situation and said he takes full responsibility for it.
Other highlights: he said he would release all of his e-mails involving Flint from 2014 and 2015, and pledged $28-million of state money to resolving the situation and he said that wouldn’t be the last appropriation. At the end, he said the people of Michigan should hold him responsible for outcome. At various times, the Governor’s voice faltered, sounding nervous and emotional.
