In Michigan, it’s still legal to discriminate against someone based on sexual orientation or gender identity. We talk with the sponsor of a bill addressing such discrimination, Sen. Rebekah Warren.

The mass shooting in Orlando at a gay night club more than two weeks ago brought pain, anger, and sadness to Americans all across the country. Here in Michigan, it’s also re-sparking the debate over gay rights.

In our state, it’s still legal to discriminate against someone based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

There are two bills in current session that would change that, and one of them is sponsored by Sen. Rebekah Warren, who is serving her second term from the 18th District.
