The race for the White House ran through Detroit over the Labor Day weekend. GOP hopeful Donald Trump spoke at an African American church on Saturday, and former president Bill Clinton stumped for Hillary at the Labor Day Parade Monday. We talk with MSU political scientist Matt Grossman.

The Labor Day weekend may have been a relaxing respite for many of us fortunate enough to have taken some time off, but it was a busy time for the presidential candidates. On Saturday, GOP nominee Donald Trump visited a black church in Detroit, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein spoke at Eastern Market. Yesterday, former president Bill Clinton headlined the metro Detroit Labor Day Parade as surrogate for his wife Hillary. Election Day is just nine weeks away.

Current State talks about this year’s political season with Dr. Matt Grossman, a political scientist and director of the Institute for Public Policy and Social Research at Michigan State University.
