Today Is Last Registration Day for August Primary

Today is the last day to register to vote in Michigan’s August primary.

On August 7th voters will choose who they want to see on the November ballot for U-S Senate, Congress, governor, and state House and Senate.

Fred Woodhams is a spokesperson for the Secretary of State.

He said voter turnout tends to be low for primaries.

“It means the people who do show up and cast the ballot, their ballot counts that much more due to the lower turnout," said Woodhams.

The last time Republicans and Democrats had candidates to choose from for governor was 20-10 – and voter turnout for that primary was only about 22 percent.

Voter turnout for primaries is usually below 20-percent.
