Achieving nuclear fusion has proven to be elusive for generations of scientists. According to the BBC, American scientists have brought us one step closer to nuclear fusion's becoming a viable source of clean energy.Michigan State University Distinguished Professor of Physics Wolfgang Bauer has a dual appointment at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory at MSU. While the result last month at the National Ignition Facility in California is a significant milestone, he says that the day nuclear fusion will produce limitless and clean nuclear energy is still decades away.
