Gov. Snyder dissolves NERD Fund, won't reveal donors

File photo/WKAR

After weeks of pointed criticism, the Snyder administration announced on Monday that it would shut down its so-called NERD fund. The “New Energy to Reinvent and Diversify" Fund was not legally obligated to disclose its donors.Unlimited and anonymous contributions to administration projects were meant to defray the costs of government. Instead, it raised controversy when it was learned money was used to pay for such things as  travel and housing for Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr.  Critics say it’s impossible to know how anonymous contributors may benefit from the arrangement.

Rick Pluta of the Michigan Public Radio Network says it's unlikely that pressure on Snyder will lead to the disclosure of any NERD Fund donors.
