The holiday shopping season is upon us. If you’re looking for something unique or hoping to avoid the long lines at the mall, a pair of local Lansing artists have just the thing. We talk to Debbie Carlos and Amalia Boukos, co-founders of River City MRKT, a pop-up arts and crafts shop in Lansing’s REO Town.

Santa probably isn’t the only one making a list right now. As the holiday season approaches, a lot of us will be braving long lines at the malls and big box stores with gift lists in hand. But if you’re looking for handmade gifts over mass-produced items, you might want to check out a new pop-up shop in Lansing’s REO Town.

Current State’s April Van Buren visited the River City Market. The series of pop-up retail events is the brainchild of Lansing artists Amalia Boukos and Debbie Carlos. You might have seen their tent at a couple of festivals this summer.

Now, they’re getting ready to move from a one-day format to a four week long pop-up holiday store in REO Town.
