October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and for Neighbors in Action we hear from MSU Safe Place about the work they do to help victims of domestic violence and abuse.

In the United States, one in four women and one in seven men will experience severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime, according to the CDC. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Current State explores what some local organizations are doing to help victims.

We talk with Erica Schmittdiel, a licensed master social worker with MSU Safe Place and an advocacy coordinator with Capital Area Response Effort (CARE), and Merkeb Yohannes, a domestic violence survivor and a volunteer with CARE.
