It was a long and hard weekend for the boys at "Current Sports with Al Martin." With MSU Homecoming, Al quadruple-dipped on Friday--hosting the show, serving on a sports journalism panel, emceeing the Homecoming parade and hosting Michigan State Madness. Engineer Isaac Constans also emceed homecoming and was covering the Spartan football game on Saturday. In short, there's plenty of news on today's Current Sports. Al and Isaac begin on the Spartan football team, which is now 6-1. The game against Indiana took a different type of grit than years prior, but this year, it's just more of the same for MSU. That dialogue trickles down to the University of Michigan, but the reverse is true. Al and Isaac pick out the problems on both sides of the ball for the Wolverines, and one caller lets coach Jim Harbaugh have it after the curb-stomp suffered to Penn State. Then, MSU men's basketball coach Tom Izzo is turning down the volume of his appearances slightly, but there's a simple reason why. Al explains and then brings Zach Berridge on from MSU Women's Basketball Media Day for a few minutes. Berridge, a WILX sports reporter and host, touches base on the team and on the high school football teams in the region that are playoffs-bound. Those teams start off "Weekend Winners," the closing segment of the show.
