Michigan State Women's Basketball Media Day; MSU Football; Mark Dantonio; Tom Izzo; Michigan State Basketball; Joe Rexrode.

It's that time of the year when the weather is cooling and sports are heating up. "Current Sports with Al Martin" brings the news from all of them today, starting with MSU women's basketball, whose Media Day was yesterday. Al keeps fans up on what is getting the players ready to go for this upcoming year. Taking another approach to motivation, Michigan State football head coach Mark Dantonio has been as steady as ever this season. His comments are looped back live on the air as he looks forward and talks about the lack of national media attention. Al and engineer Isaac Constans visit the pros and cons of flying under the radar. And with several callers on the day, soccer gets its share of the show, as does MSU men's basketball. Al airs the words of Tom Izzo from that same press conference as Dantonio, and the men's basketball coach describes why the Spartans added another preseason game on short notice, in going to Grand Rapids to play Georgia for a good cause. While the intent is noble, it might also help the young team on the court. Concluding the show, Al introduces the story of a former Michigan State beat writer with a dramatic story. Joe Rexrode, who now works for The Tennesseean, will be on the show to tell it himself soon.
