As the university school year winds down, many students are preparing for summer unpaid internships, hoping to improve their employability.The practice of not paying interns has become increasingly widespread.Dr. Phil Gardner is director of the Collegiate Employment Research Institute at MSU and he has worked with students on career and academic decision-making.

Gardner tells Current State that we don't know if the proportion of paid to unpaid internships has changed significantly over the years.
