As Freezing winds continue to grip the state,  some places around Mid-Michigan also open their doors as warming centers to those in need.

Laura Stephens is the Assistant Manager of Jackson Interfaith Shelter she says more people have been making their way there.

“We’ve had a small increase because we can be considered a warming center." Says Stephens. "Our doors are open and ready to offer that support for people who are on the streets in the community.”

Stephens says having a spare pair of gloves can be useful to give to someone you see who is in need.

Wind Chill as low as -13 degrees is expected throughout mid-Michigan into Thursday. In those conditions frostbite can occur in about 30 minutes.
