The Lansing City Council has approved the city’s 2022 fiscal year budget.  The plan represents a 10 percent increase over the current budget.

The boost comes in part from the Biden administration’s American Rescue Plan.

Lansing’s $151.2 million general fund budget adds one social worker and a Freedom of Information Act analyst for the Lansing Police Department.

It also includes quarterly expungement clinics through the city attorney’s office.

The budget will allow funding for a partnership between Ingham County community health workers and fire dispatchers to ensure non-emergency calls are routed to social services providers.

The budget passed unanimously on an 8-to-0 council vote.

The spending plan takes effect July 1.
