The Ingham County Health Department will close its COVID-19 vaccination site at the MSU Pavilion next week.
Health Officer Linda Vail says more than 136,000 total vaccine doses have been administered by the Ingham County Health Department. She adds that 94,000 of those shots were administered at the drive-through clinic at Michigan State University. Vail says “you probably can fairly say that we’ve done about 50,000 people at the pavilion, or close to it.”
Vail adds that a site that large requires a lot of personnel, and traffic through the site has slowed considerably. “Greeters and traffic and vaccinators and all of those things. You can scale down the operation, but you still need all those roles," Vail concludes. "You need a site team lead, you have to have paramedics on site. Michigan State University emergency management is on site. Things like that.”
The clinic is open Wednesday evening until 7:30. The final scheduled dates for the clinic are Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Tuesday June 8th from 8:30 to 12:30. No appointment is needed.
People needing a second dose will likely go to the county Human Services Building on South Cedar Street in Lansing.
