A new space for artists to display their work has opened in Lansing.
The Opportunity Arts Artitorium aims to provide a space for primarily female artists from the Lansing area.
A collective of women known as The 4 Aces of Visual Arts is currently being highlighted, with videos about each of them going up on social media.
Owner Mike Marriott says the Artitorium provides studio space, gallery showings, and a small performance area for music and poetry. “If you’re an artist or creative in Lansing," Marriott says, "this is hopefully a space that’s gonna turn the volume up on what you’re doing.”
Marriott adds he plans to work with artists from a variety of backgrounds, stating "we also want to highlight any artists who from any marginalized communities or anything like that, that want to have that platform who may not have had access to it before.”
The Artitorium is adjacent to the Cedar Street Art Collective at 1705 South Cedar.
