Republican Mike Bishop wants to return to Washington to represent Lansing and East Lansing for a second term in the U.S. House. We ask the former state legislator about his record and why he thinks he deserves another term representing the 8th district.

Eighth district Cong. Mike Bishop already is nearing the end of his first term in the U.S. Congress and is up for re-election next month. The Rochester Republican’s campaign says internal polling shows he enjoys a substantial lead over his opponent, Democratic newcomer Suzanna Shkreli, a Macomb County assistant prosecutor. Shkreli appeared on Current State earlier this week.

Cong. Bishop touts a conservative record with a focus on budget and tax cutting, support for Michigan’s Right to Work law, Second Amendment rights and a strong pro-life record. Current State talks with him about his campaign to retain the 8th district seat.
