Our Election 2016 coverage continues with a look at the race for Sheriff in Eaton County. Both incumbent Democrat Tom Reich and Republican challenger Fred McPhail are facing serious personal problems. We talk with them about those problems and the issues facing crimefighting in the county.

The campaign for Sheriff in Eaton County has seen some twists and turns that nobody could have predicted. Sheriff Tom Reich is a Democrat running for re-election. His opponent is Republican Fred McPhail, who served as undersheriff in a previous administration. He retired two years ago after serving in the department for more than a quarter century.

Current State’s Scott Pohl reports on the race, which has in some ways been overwhelmed by issues both candidates are facing in their personal lives.
