We talk with GOP Rep. Tom Barrett about his bid for re-election against the Democrat he narrowly defeated in 2014, Theresa Abed.

Last Friday, we brought you an interview with Theresa Abed, the Grand Ledge Democrat who’s trying to win back her seat on Michigan’s 71st House district. Abed’s defeat in 2014 was one of the closest races that year, losing by only 146 votes.

Today, we continue our Election 2016 coverage by hearing from Abed’s opponent in the 71st, incumbent Republican State Rep. Tom Barrett.

Current State’s Kevin Lavery speaks with Barrett about his first term in Lansing.

Kevin Lavery served as a general assignment reporter and occasional local host for Morning Edition and All Things Considered before retiring in 2023.
