A former chief of staff for Gov. John Engler is returning to the state capitol. Current State talks with Dan Pero about working with incoming state House Speaker Tom Leonard.

A key figure in Michigan government and policy is returning to work at the state capitol after years away. Dan Pero served as Chief of Staff and campaign manager for three-term Republican Gov. John Engler.

All together, Pero has spent more than 35 years in state government, grassroots organizing and public affairs. In January, he will become the chief of staff for incoming Speaker of the Michigan House Tom Leonard of Dewitt.

We talk with Dan Pero about his return to Michigan politics.
