SCOTUS rules against gene patenting

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled unanimously that naturally occurring human genes cannot be patented. The ruling will affect researchers, universities and industries. 

Current State host Mark Bashore talks to Jennifer Carter-Johnson, an assistant professor of law at Michigan State University who also holds a doctorate degree in microbiology. Using her background in law and in biology, she provides insight on the High Court's ruling.
