The Affordable Care Act, often known as Obamacare, is well underway across the USA.

In Michigan, debate continues over expanding Medicaid coverage to thousands more people. For years, many physicians have lamented the fact that Medicaid doesn’t always fully reimburse them the costs they incur to render medical services.   The Affordable Care Act raises that reimbursement rate for primary care doctors to match the levels paid by Medicare.  But that’s not the case for all physicians who keep a close eye on their bottom line.

Dr. Kenneth Elmassian, president of the Michigan State Medical Society and an anesthesiologist practicing in Lansing, joins Current State to discuss how Medicaid expansion may affect medical providers.
