The Lansing city council begins its 2014 term in three weeks, and for the first time in more than a decade, it will not include at large councilman Brian Jeffries. Jeffries served 11 years on the council until he was defeated last month by political newcomer Judi Brown Clarke.Jeffries has been in public office in Lansing and Ingham County for some 30 years.
Jeffries says he lost a negative campaign run by what he calls 'shadow groups'.
