An empty GM parking lot on West Saginaw is a little brighter now thanks to a new public art installation. The project was a collaboration between MSU students and youth who have been through the juvenile justice system. Current State's April Van Buren visits the site.
If you’ve driven down West Saginaw Avenue lately, you may have noticed a little more color. The installation of colorful mosaics on concrete barriers in an old GM parking lot is the work of Project restART, a collaboration between Peckham, Inc. and MSU.
Students from the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities and the College of Engineering partnered with adjudicated youth to design and install the mosaics.
Current State’s April Van Buren went to the unveiling last week to talk to some of the people behind Lansing’s newest piece of public art.
