The Snyder administration is calling on all state agencies to coordinate their efforts to improve job access for persons with disabilities. We talk about the Employment First program with two local nonprofit executives who work to build that workplace culture for persons with disabilities.
Last week, Michigan Lt. Gov. Brian Calley signed an executive order intended to increase job opportunities for persons with disabilities. The Employment First initiative calls on all state departments and agencies to ensure their policies promote competitive employment opportunities. A main goal of the program is to improve support services for persons with disabilities in the workplace.
Current State talks with Todd Culver, executive director of the Michigan Association of Rehabilitation Organizations (MARO), and Mitch Tomlinson, the president and CEO of Peckham, Incorporated, a nonprofit organization well known in this region for providing job training for workers with disabilities.
