A once vibrant green space in Lansing shuttered nearly 30 years ago has come back to life. Yesterday, Mayor Virg Bernero and others stood on a new boat dock on a 15-acre lake to cut the ribbon re-opening Ralph W. Crego Park. The city’s largest public park was closed in 1986 when toxic chemicals were found on the site. Now, after a state and city funded environmental cleanup, the park named for Lansing’s longest serving mayor is open for business. Current State’s Kevin Lavery was there to see the rebirth of this hidden gem.
