Michigan State University is preparing for a visit from a prominent national “alt-right” leader.

Richard Spencer will give an invitation-only speech at the MSU Pavilion next Monday.  Spencer is president of the National Policy Institute, an ultra-conservative group that espouses white supremacy.

Spencer was a key figure in the “Unite the Right” rally last August in Charlottesville, Virginia...an incident which saw violent protests and three fatalities.

MSU Police Captain Doug Monette says a team of law enforcement officers will be in place to keep the peace.

“There will be officers inside the building as well as outside the building to ensure this is safe, just like it is every day on the MSU campus,” says Monette.

Monette advises drivers to be aware of possible traffic restrictions near the MSU Pavilion on Monday.

The event begins at 4:30 p.m.
